Purchasing was relatively easy. Got a straight shot on trade-in value along with cash price and a lease offer. Decided for purchase, our choice and no pressure approach. I will not deal with high pressure and Kevin was great and straight on the terms. We like that. Simple straight forward. Coming up on our first oil change and have that scheduled for a few days from now. Will update if there are any concerns. Should be a simple oil/filter change, tire rotate and TPMS relearn, its a high line. I got the TPMS ID's already and that actually was part of a class I taught showing how to find those and ID the tires during a diagnostic balance with tread wear tracking. Thats a feature more suited to fleets. All positive and good to go. Had the Toyota some kind of GPS connect thing for 3 months and quite frankly it wasnt enough time to even get to know it. So we use the android connect and a Garmin with a custom polycarbonate mount for our GPS on a trip we just got back from. I saw Kevin and told him the experience with the Grand Highlander wasn't good (his initial look was PRICELESS) and I immediately followed with it was GREAT. Seriously if you are looking at a Toyota, see Kevin. I dont get anything but if you mention my name, I dont get anything. But you should have a good experience. And if you do tell him it was good.. I already used great. As far as the car itself. Way easier to pack luggage for our yearly trip to Kenosha WI. All fits on one layer with the seats down. We use a moving blanket from Harbor Freight to lay out in the rear. Easy peasy. Have not figured out the secret foot wiggle to get the hatch to close consistently. It may be me and looks like its integrated into the ADAS functionality of the car. Tap the view button when parking and you get a 360 view of the parking spot or pulling in which ever you are doing meaning D or P. The lane keeping does pretty good and helps guide you down the land and around corners. I dont use it much. It does like to alert to have your hands on the wheel. The steering and suspension seem to be a bit sensitive but I traced that to the fact this car is so tight and tracks straight that some road anomalies may make it seem overly sensitive, well kinda yes and kinda more the road. I have been consistently able to replicate the same behavior on the same stretch of road regardless of lane keeping on or off. Camber is slightly negative -.5 and Caster about +4. I like these numbers . It does explain the handling and they are in my opinion more neutral rather than inducing some bias in the system. Drives very well. Some roads are notably more wiggly than a good flat highway. Right at 31 mpg till we got to SD where the speed limit went to 80 then it was 30.6 mpg. Terrible right? Terribly good. The non hybrid Highlander we has would be clocking in at 22 or 23. The tank is a little smaller but still has a little better range by about 50to 70 miles. No RPM but has a power dial. No need to coast to a turn just go ahead and brake and the regen takes care of that. You will get used to it in no time. Like zero time. Intuitive. And the best thing? It's a twin motor planetary no belt no clutches transmission. Synergy drive they call it and nearly foolproof. I did NOT want the belt CVT and this meets that criteria. Anyway nuff said on this car. I would get again in a heartbeat. The hybrid fits us well, we like the gas station breaks on a trip. 10 to 15 min stop and break and go again.
